KSAAA was founded in 2018 with a targeted mission of providing Kansans with increased access to the quality anesthesia care performed by CAAs in the anesthesia care team model.
Kansas Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants
Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants (CAAs) are well-established anesthesia providers that always practice alongside anesthesiologists in a variety of surgical/procedural settings. CAAs are novel practitioners in Kansas, but have been practicing safe anesthesia care in many other states for over 50 years. CAAs complete a 24-28 month didactic and clinical course of schooling after obtaining a bachelor's degree and meeting other program prerequisites. The nearest CAA training program to Kansas is housed at the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine.
